Operation "Rheinübung" 1
18 May 1941 the Bismarck, still wearing her Baltic camouflage, sails for Norway in the wake of a mine destructor ship.
20 May 1941 the Bismarck in the center of the picture and the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen in the left background. In the foreground at edges of the picture are two minesweepers of the Fifth Naval Scout Flotilla. 20 May 1941 the Bismarck off Skagen, Denmark en route for Norway, as seen from the bridge of a minesweeper. In the background is one of the destroyer escorts, and partially obscurred by the searchlight is a minesweeper of the 5th Minesweeping Flotilla, which formed part of the convoy.
21 May 1941, between 7:00 and 8:00 A.M., the German task force neared the coast of Norway. The ship up front is the Bismarck. 21 May 1941 at about 8:00 A.M. the group entered the fjord.
